Three Days

Dry pigment, house paint on wood

This piece was the fruit of a commission request to do a high contrast grayscale painting. I intuitively pursued an abstracted horizon line, and the end result felt bleak and desolate yet with a sense that there is a light ahead. Maybe in the world of this painting, it won't always be bleak and desolate? As I was feeling through these simple ideas, I began to think about Jesus' disciples and how the world must have "looked" or felt to them after Jesus' death, not aware of what was going to happen "Three Days" after his death.
